Babies are such a joy but can be demanding at times.  This is where we enjoy helping new parents, so they can get the rest they need.  Every mom should have the support she needs in order to enjoy every precious moment of their little bundle (or bundles!) of joy.

Mothers' stay in the hospital is so brief after the birth and sometimes families are not always close by to help.  That's when a Postpartum Doula is needed to provide the help and support that mothers need when first home from the hospital.  Mothers can be exhausted, and having an experienced person with them gives them comfort, confidence, and the opportunity to rest and gain some strength back.

Our desire is for you to have a birthday that you will cherish for life.  To help you to be able to enjoy your precious baby!  This is one of the most wonderful times of your life.  Enjoy each sound, each smile and each movement.  All new mothers deserve nurturing care, support and education. We are so happy to be able to offer this to you and your new baby.

Debbie Swinson

Owner

Debbie Swinson, owner of Mommy's Way Infant Care was trained by Marcia Thuermer,  PCD/PDT, Postpartum Doula Trainer (DONA)*.  These trainings included extensive instruction on newborn care and infant development (including care of preemies and multiples).  DONA training provided education on breastfeeding and bottle-feeding, childbirth recovery, baby safety, postpartum mood disorders, and support of all family members during the transition to new roles.

She possessed many years of newborn care experience, personal and professional, caring for infants and children most of her adult life.  She is CD(DONA) Certified Birth Doula, CPD(DONA) Certified Postpartum Doula, CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor), Infant Care Specialist, Night Nurse, Infant Massage Educator, CPR/BLS certified, CNA, Certified EKG Tech, Certified Phlebotomy Tech. She carries all the necessary immunizations to care for newborn babies.

Debbie is a mother of three and grandmother of seven.  Her first grandson was a difficult delivery and she felt so lucky to have the opportunity to be in the delivery room with her daughter and help her through this beautiful life-changing experience.  Labor and delivery left her daughter exhausted and unable to totally care for him (or herself) the first month after his birth.  Debbie had the joy of providing care for her grandson around the clock.  Her daughter wanted to breastfeed him, but it was difficult at first for her... and for him.  Debbie was able to successfully, but not without bumps in the road, breastfed all three of her children. This experience helped her be able to educate, support and encourage her daughter through the 'bumps' of breastfeeding. Debbie was able to teach her how to do such things as massage and express milk for the baby.  This was so important since she needed rest, like all new mothers!

Debbie also has years of experience as an in-home daycare provider.  She cared for a set of twins from two weeks through fifteen months.  The twins were breastfed initially, but then Debbie was able to help mom make the transition from breast milk to partial bottle-feeding and then to a sippy cup!  She has  even cared for three infants (a four-week old and two six-week olds) all at the same time!

Chelsea Robinson

Chelsea Robinson is a CD(DONA) Certified Birth Doula, CPD(DONA) Certified Postpartum Doula, StillBirthday Doula certification and a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator.

As a Doula, I am privileged to help women and their partners make these experiences as positive and healthy as possible. And it’s never surprising to me when another scientific paper proves the positive impact a doula can have on the mother and family. It is an honor to be able to  offer care to women and families across the Triangle area.

Chelsea has been a Doula for 7 years and has attended 150 births.

Melanie

My name is Melanie and I am married to my husband Tyree! We have a beautiful daughter and a fur baby, Penelope. I enjoy listening to podcasts, reading, being a plant mama, running, shopping, chai tea, and spending time with my little family.

I am a certified labor doula & postpartum and infant care doula. I offer pregnancy & birth support, evidence-based resources, breastfeeding support & education, postpartum care, and emotional support.

Before becoming a doula, I obtained my BS degree in early childhood studies and an AAS degree in early childhood education. I have worked in the early childhood field for over 10 years as a teacher with children from 6 weeks- 5 years old and then became an assistant director of a preschool school. I would describe myself as having a servants heart. I have a passion for caring for children and their families!

I decided to become a doula after giving birth to my daughter and facing the unknowns as a first time mama. I knew then I wanted to get certified so that I can share what I know from experience and have learned through trainings to be able to walk alongside families whether it’s their first birth or 3rd. I love being able to provide families with emotional, physical, mental, and informational support in a non-judgmental manner, while creating a relationship that’s confidential and trustworthy.

I will provide your family with love and support as we partner together to welcome your newest little love to the family! I am excited to partner with you on this precious journey!

Amanda

I was blessed to attend my first birth at 18 and loved being a support for my friend. At that time in life, I didn’t know what a doula was or even that this was a career. At 21, I became a nanny before having my biological children at 25. I have attended several births including c-sections and have helped several people with lactation either on the first day after delivery or when they got home. I have also been the person to walk with parents through loss. No matter what stage of pregnancy, I am a safe space for you.

I specialized in nurturing and loving babies from 0 to 24m in foster care for 5 years. I brought several babies home from the hospital and was blessed to help them through their first few months. Showing them what it means to be heard, supported, and loved.

I am passionate about all aspects of supporting families during the pre and post-birth processes, regardless of the outcome. I feel called to this line of work and am excited to connect with you.

My husband and I are currently in Johnston County, North Carolina. We look forward to learning about this area and connecting with people here. I look forward to building my business and connecting with those in the birth world.

Lynn

Lynn is a North Carolina native from a large family of seven siblings. Having three adult children and a granddaughter of her own she recognizes the importance of having the support of a ‘village’ when your family is transitioning with the addition of a new baby; regardless if the child is received by birth, adoption or placement. However, in today's world family isn’t always close by or available to offer the level of care or length of time needed for the new family to settle in.

Lynn has decades of experience working with infants and children. During her extensive career she has instructed parent and child movement/tumbling/music classes for children 6 months-2 years, elementary age in gymnastics and cheer, working with students in classroom settings from Kindergarten to High School with Wake County Schools a wide variety of settings (including work with special education which includes assisting with medical needs) Her vast experience working with parents and children of all ages, settings and lifestyles makes her a valuable asset to families needing partner to walk beside and guide them through this most personal time. Lynn received her Postpartum Doula and Lactation training through Dona International. She is CPR and First Aide certified.

Devin

My name is Devin and I am a busy mother of four and DONA certified birth doula! In my spare time, whenever I can find it, I enjoy reading, writing, playing a video game or two and binge watching my favorite shows. You’ll often find me by the Keurig making another new cup of coffee because I let the last one get cold. My biology teacher used to tell me that I was a “social butterfly,” but I think I’m more of a social chameleon in that I tend to blend in and match the energy of those around me.

Prior to becoming a doula, I spent nearly ten years as a Dental Assistant. I have always had a heart for serving others and a passion for supporting people through their most vulnerable experiences. As a type 1 diabetic, I take a keen interest in nurturing Mama’s that are dealing with high-risk pregnancies. Some of my own personal experiences have led me to the desire to educate, support and empower women to advocate for themselves and the positive birth experience they deserve! I am also a Humana Tricare Military provider. My job is to cultivate the environment to achieve your personal birth goals in a non-judgmental or bias, yet safe and confident manner. In the last year alone, I have attended over 13 births! I’m excited to learn how I can best support you to encourage a fearless and joyful birth!

Tanecia’s parenting style is one of love and compassion with a healthy dose of focus on good routines and old fashioned hard work.

She learned about doulas during her second pregnancy when she was fortunate to have her own birth doula through Operation Special Delivery. More than just assist during labor, Tanecia’s doula helped her “become a mother of two and understand how that might look.”

Now a busy mom and student working on her Master’s degree, Tanecia, uses her expertise and innate skills to help new parents establish developmentally appropriate routines and habits. Tanecia stays up to date on the latest gear and prides herself on being able to help parents transition babies from a Snoo to a crib.

With experience in just about everything mama and baby – from breastfeeding and pumping to cloth diapering and baby wearing, to having had a newborn in NICU, to working outside the home as well as staying home with her children – Tanecia offers valuable insight and support to her families.

“I struggled with breastfeeding for weeks, and I’ll never forget how kind Tanecia was the night I decided to exclusively pump. She made me feel so successful and proud. ”
